Emma M. Schey, 99, of Allentown, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, in the Phoebe Home. She was the wife of the late Lester H. Schey. Born March 19, 1913, in Ryan Township, Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Otto L. and Bertha M. (Kokat) Fredericks. A 1931 graduate of Mahanoy City High School, she was employed at Stuyvesant Insurance Co. as a secretary for 23 years before retiring on May 1, 1975. A member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Emma served on its council, taught Sunday school and was a Girl Scout leader. She was a former member and secretary of the Whitehall chapter of the AARP. Survivors: sisters, Eleanor R. Fredericks, Alma C. Soraruf, B. Irene Carli, Allentown; step-sons, Donald L., and wife, Elsie, Allentown, James F., and wife, Mary, Milford Square; step-grandchildren; nephews; nieces. Brother, Harold O., preceded her in death.
