U.S. Veteran Richard L. Schoch, 90, of Allentown, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown Campus. He was the husband of the late Dorothy E. (Smith) Schoch. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Carlton M. and Lucy (Strunk) Schoch. Richard was a graduate of Allentown HS, Class of 1939, Lehigh University, Class of 1944, and received his MBA from Lehigh University. He was a World War II Army veteran and served in the Asian Pacific Theatre and the Philippines. He earned two bronze stars and several ribbons and medals. Richard was a self-employed accountant for many years. Before becoming self-employed, he was the office manager then assistant treasurer for Berman Leasing for 15 years, was a Commercial Loan Officer for First National Bank of Allentown for 8 years, was the first Business Administrator for the start-up and beginning of Lehigh County Community College, worked as an accountant for Phil Verrichio and was an adjunct professor at Allentown College. He was a member of the former Salem U.C.C. Reformed, where he served as a financial advisor, taught Sunday School, served on Consistory and sang on the choir. He was a member of New Temple Lodge #720 F. & A.M. Survivors: Sons: Carlton R. Schoch, William R. and his wife Beth Ann Schoch, all of Allentown; Daughters: Barbara E. Haas and her husband Terry of Salisbury Twp., Elaine C. Bass, wife of the late David Bass of Mesa Arizona; Grandchildren: Seven. He was predeceased by his brother William. Services: Masonic Service at 10:30 am Wednesday, followed by Funeral Service at Stephens Funeral Home Inc. 1335-37 Linden Street, Allentown. Call 9:30 – 10:30 am Wednesday in the funeral home.
