Betty Mae Brunner September 29, 1923 - October 4, 2016

Betty Mae Brunner, 93, of Allentown, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in Fellowship Terrace, Whitehall. She was the wife of Earl W. Brunner. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in August 2016. Born in Ephrata, she was a daughter of the late Arlington and Berthie Baringer. Betty was a graduate of Ephrata HS and West Chester University. She received her Master’s Degree and was 9 credits short of her doctorate degree from Columbia University. She was a school teacher in the Allentown, East Orange and Parkland school districts for many years before retiring. Mrs. Brunner was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Allentown. She was a former member of Nutley Lutheran Church in NJ where she was the primary soloist. Betty was once selected as a member of the All-America Chorus that traveled to Europe and was then one of four soloists selected to sing in Monaco at Prince Rainier’s palace. Along with her husband Earl, Betty traveled around the world twice and made many trips to Europe.

Survivors: Husband, Earl; Sister: Dorothy Sheaffer and her husband Ray of Ephrata. Betty is also survived by nephews and a niece.

Services: 10:30 am Friday, St. John’s Lutheran Church, 37 S. 5th St., Allentown 18101. Call 9:30 – 10:30 am Friday in the church. Arrangements by Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. www.stephensfuneral.com.
