David H. DeLong, Jr. September 25, 1923 - October 19, 2016

David H. DeLong, Jr., 93, of Allentown, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in the Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke’s. He was the husband of the late Jane L. (Rickert) DeLong. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late David A. DeLong and Helen (Beck) Stein. David was a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years before retiring in 1983. After retiring, David worked as a security guard at Cedarbrook until retiring again in 1991. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was part of “Operation Torch” in the invasion of North Africa. Mr. DeLong was a member of several VFW’s and American Legion Posts. He was a member and Past Master of Greenleaf Lodge #561 F. & A.M. and was a member of Shriners and Tall Cedars. David was involved with the Music Festivals tent at the Allentown Fair for many years.

Survivors: Son: David H. DeLong III and his wife Dianne of Allentown; Daughters: Carol A. Beers of Allentown, Nancy J. Green and her husband Robert W., Jr., formerly of Whitehall; 4 Grandchildren: Heidi K. Beers, Keith M. Beers and his wife Jennie and their son Chase, Michael D. DeLong, Michelle D. DeLong; Step-grandson: Jason R. Green and his wife Holly and their daughter Taylour; Step-great grandson: James F. Wright. David was predeceased by a son Dennis “Dego” DeLong, a step-brother Glenn C. DeLong and a Son-in-Law Marshall D. Beers, Jr.

Services: A calling period will be held from 1 – 2 pm Monday at Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 274 N. Krocks Rd., Allentown 18106, with a Masonic Service at 2 pm followed by the funeral service. www.stephensfuneral.com.
