Francis A. Salerno May 21, 1916 - July 17, 2016

Francis A. Salerno, 100, a resident of Country Meadows, Allentown and formerly of Philadelphia, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016. He was the husband of the late Margaret E. (O’Brien) Salerno. Born in Yonkers, NY, he was a son of the late Anthony and Carmela (Ruoti) Salerno. Francis was a graduate of North Catholic H.S. in Philadelphia. Mr. Salerno was a World War II Army veteran and retired as a Lt. Colonel after 30 years of service including Army Reserves. He worked as an accountant for the Dept. of Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia for 25 years before retiring. Francis was a devout Catholic and attended St. Thomas More Church, Allentown. He was a life-time member of the former St. Martin of Tours and then was a member of Mater Dolorosa.

Survivors: Sons: Dr. Francis A. Salerno, Jr. (Aleita), Gerard F. Salerno (Carolyn), Christopher D. Salerno (Mary), Gregory T. Salerno (Carolyn); Grandchildren: 12; Great grandchildren: 14. Francis was predeceased by a daughter Kathleen Waible, a son Mark J. Salerno, a brother and three sisters.
