Jean D. Schaffer, 82, of Coopersburg, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 in her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was married to her high school sweetheart, Charles “Charlie” E. She was a lifelong and active member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Center Valley, where she was a member of the Altar Guild and sang on the choir for over 50 years. Jean was a member of the Lutheran Fellowship organization of the church.  She enjoyed doing God’s work by either baking shoo-fly pies, peach pies, making Easter egg candies, or serving at the roast beef dinners to benefit the Aid Association of Friedens.  Jean was an avid sports fan especially baseball. She and her husband attended many games together to cheer on their son, a semi-pro team or her beloved Phillies. Good or bad she always had an opinion on how the Phillies played. Jean had a passion for cooking, baking, preparing Thanksgiving dinner, or even making hoagies for the Limeport Baseball Committee.  Jean loved to travel.  Whether it was with Charlie to visit all 50 states, with her daughter to Dresden Ohio to add to her Longaberger Basket collection, the casinos or one of her annual trips to the NJ shore to spend time with her family or friends.
