John “Mertz” Marcin

John “Mertz” Marcin, Jr., 93, of Allentown, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp. He was the husband of the late Pauline E. (Brunner) Marcin. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late John and Anna (Pavlik) Marcin. John was a graduate of Allentown H.S. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. John was a Plank Owner on the USS Wasp CV-18 and served in the South Pacific. He was a member of the USS Wasp Reunion Assoc., and regularly attended their reunions. Mr. Marcin was a machinist and foreman at Bethlehem Steel for 40 years before retiring. He was a member and Past President of the Allentown Turner Liederkranz. John was a 60 year member of Greenleaf Lodge #561 F. & A. M. He was a member of Rajah Shrine, Hospital Unit and was a Past President and 50 year member of the Oriental Band.

Survivors: Brother: Joseph Marcin and his wife Elsie of Whitehall; Sister: Mary Anthus of Allentown. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews and was predeceased by a sister Anna Moyer.

Services: 10:45 am Tuesday, Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 274 N. Krocks Rd., Allentown 18106. Call 9:30 – 10:30 am Tuesday with a Masonic Service at 10:30 am, all in the funeral home. www.stephensfuneral.com. Interment with military honors will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fullerton Ave., Whitehall.
