Marie Z. Sacks August 14, 1918 - September 9, 2016

Marie (Zartler) Sacks, 98 of Allentown passed away September 9, 2016 in Cedarbrook Nursing Home with her family by her side after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was the daughter of the late Theresa and John Zartler; and the wife of the late Orville C. Sacks for 50 years.

Marie was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School.  She retired from the Allentown Police Dept., Juvenile Division.  After that she worked at Leh’s Dept Store, Whitehall.  Marie was proud to be one of the first fashion models at Hess’s Department Store.  She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena.

Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered by her children, J. Gregory Sacks of Gainesville, FL, Carolyn (Biggs) Melton of Allentown, Janet Mahaffey, and husband Art of Allentown, grandchildren, Lisa Balliet, Zorn Jurchenko, Cole Biggs, Britt Tagg, Kristen Jurchenko and 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many who loved her.

Services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, Stephens Funeral Home, 274 Krocks Road, Allentown, PA. Call 9:30 – 10:30 am Tuesday in the funeral home.
