Paul T. Fenstermacher January 4, 1925 - June 13, 2016

Paul T. Fenstermacher, 91, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016.  Born in Ringtown on January 4, 1925, he was a son of the late Ralph R. and Emma R. (Houser) Fenstermacher.  He started his career working in the payroll department at the Sun Shipbuilding and Drydock Co., Chester, during World War II.  He then successfully completed the American Institute of Banking courses during his four years of bank experience.  Paul held a leadership position as the Cub Scouting chairman in the William Penn District of the Valley Forge Council and was a member of the Order of the Arrow.  He was also active in other various charities at that time.  He served two years in the Navy Reserve and 18 months active duty aboard a carrier where he held the position of Legal Personnel Assistant as court reporter for hardship discharges and personnel procedures.  He also served as the captain’s relay speaker during drills and refueling ships at sea.  After his honorable discharge, Paul graduated from Peirce Business College.  He went to work for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a real estate supervisor, negotiating sales, purchases and leases, working in Pennsylvania, northern New York, Buffalo, and Chicago offices.  He retired and enjoyed eight years in King of Prussia.  In 1981, he moved to Pompano Beach FL, where he was a board member and association president of a 97-unit condominium on the Intracoastal.  In 1987, Paul moved to Boca Raton where he enjoyed tennis and other activities through 2000.  His travels covered the United States of America, Europe, China, as well as various cruises, and most recently, a trip cross country to California and Yosemite by train.  He was a familiar, friendly face at Topton Home since 1961 because of his devotion to his great aunt.  He also spent considerable time at Luther Crest since 1995 attending to his sister Ruth’s needs and became a resident himself in 2005.  In 2015, he was nominated and won Volunteer-of-the-Year category of Health Care Heroes.  In 2014, Paul served as celebrity chef for the annual Dining with Diakon fundraiser and chaired the Capital Campaign for the Luther Crest Memory Support Unit.  He was honored in 2012 at the National Philanthropy Day, AFP, awards ceremony by Diakon for his many years of dedicated service.  He was ever grateful to have been ready and able to help family and friends.  Survivors: sister, Ruth Reichenbach; loving nieces and nephews.  Life-long friend, Morgan Harrison, and brothers, William, Millard “Pete”, and Roy, preceded him in death.  Services: 3 PM Friday in Crest Hall, Luther Crest Senior Living Community 800 Hausman Rd. Allentown 18104.  Arrangements entrusted to STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME, INC.  Contributions: in lieu of flowers, to the Luther Crest Benevolent Care Fund.
