Sandra S. Holod September 15, 1945 - March 29, 2017

Sandra S. Holod, 71, of Whitehall, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 after being stricken at home in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.  She was born in Ansbach, Germany, a daughter of the late Stefan and Irene (Bolesta) Holod.  Sandra received a B.S.in History and Government/French from Kutztown University in 1967; her Master’s in History from Lehigh University in 1974 and her M ED. in Education Administration from Lehigh University in 1976. Sandra retired from the Allentown School District as a High School Administrator.  She served as an Assistant Principal at Dieruff High School for 21 years, 2 years as the K-12 Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator and 9 years as a Social Studies Teacher.  Sandra was affiliated with Kutztown University as an Act 101 Advisory Board Member (past-chair), Alumni Board President ’02- ’03, Alumni board Past – President ’03 – ’04, member of the Foundation Board, Phi Delta Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma and Phi Alpha Theta. She initiated and implemented the Allentown School District and Kutztown University Academic Alliance. Currently she was back in the classroom as a substitute teacher for local school districts and a study skills tutor for high school students. She was serving with the Lehigh Valley PASR Committees. Sandra attended St. Josephat Ukranian Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

Survivors: Sister, Lidia L. wife of Richard M. Viehman of Whitehall; niece, Stephanie Viehman of Westerville, OH; nephew, Christopher Viehman and his wife Kristen of Highlands Ranch, CO; great-niece Brooklynne Viehman; cousins, Martha Geletkanycz, Roman Geletkanycz, Lesia Geletkanycz-Stychena and Christine Geletkanycz-Spain.

Services: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. 274 North Krocks Road, Allentown.  Call 9:00 -10:30 A.M. Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. John’s Ukrainian Cemetery, Northampton. www.stephensfuneral.com.
