Lenna M. Veil July 18. 1928 - March 4, 2025

Lenna M. Veil, 96 passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025.  Born on July 18, 1928, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Banker) Martin.  Lenna was the widow of the late Robert W. Veil, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2021.

Lenna was a wonderful person, always welcoming to others and happy to help in whatever way she could.  Above all, she was a natural caregiver.  When her parents and older sister passed away at an early age while she was still in high school, Lenna cared for her younger siblings, taking on responsibilities far beyond her years.  She began nursing school as well as holding down a job until she met and married her husband Bob.

Lenna was a proud Navy wife. Robert and she travelled the US and Canada before they finally settled in Plainfield, NJ.  While in Kodiak, AK, Lenna directed a childcare center, a task for which she was well-suited.  She also raised two strapping boys who came to appreciate at an early age just how remarkable their mother was.

Once the family settled in Plainfield, Lenna made it back to the profession she dreamed of as a young woman, working as a nursing clerk for Muhlenberg Hospital, Plainfield, NJ for over 35 years.  She continued to volunteer at the Hospital long after her official retirement.

During her spare time, Lenna enjoyed travelling, especially bus trips with her two sisters, summering with her family at the beach in Ocean City, MD, cooking and baking for her family, and spending time with her grandchildren.  Surprising her family in her later years, she enjoyed browsing the internet ad playing online games.  She was known for sending cards to family and friends for every occasion, and was very generous with gifts.  When one of her grandchildren was born with serious health challenges, she was quick to step in and give full support and care to ease the burden for her family.

Lenna is survived by her two sons, Jeffery Veil (wife, Lisa Sauber) and James Veil, sisters Harriet Mazur and Florence Schuler, grandchildren Robert (wife, Kristen), Bradley, John, Jason, Greg, and Andria Veil, step-grandchildren Colin and Clare Mitchell, and great-grandson Weston.  She was predeceased by her brother John, her sister Anna, and her grandson Scott Veil.  Also Bryan Veil  whom she had a very special relationship.
