Andrew J. Kilanowski December 27, 1961 - December 29, 2025

Andrew John Kilanowski passed away on December 29, 2025, at the age of 64. Following his courageous three-year battle with cancer, he was surrounded by his loved ones in Pennsylvania as he made his peaceful transition to be with God.

Andrew was born on December 27, 1961, in Massapequa, New York, to the late Joseph F. and Rosemary (Connolly) Kilanowski. Ever since he was a young boy, Andrew had a work ethic and determination that were unmatched. He excelled in his studies and sporting events and had a vivacious personality and sense of humor that would instantly brighten everyone’s day.

Andrew’s lifelong career began in 1986 when he became an aircraft mechanic for American Airlines. Two years later, he met his wife and soulmate, Denise, who also worked at American Airlines. Andrew and Denise got married on June 5, 1992, and had a beautiful wedding celebration in New York. Years later, they joyfully welcomed their two children, Nicholas and Kassandra. Andrew was a devoted husband and father, and his family was the most important part of his life.

While starting his family and working full time, Andrew obtained his Avionics degree from Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology and later completed his flight training. He then became a commercial pilot for American Airlines in 2000, flying many different planes throughout his career (including his favorite aircraft, the 787). As a pilot, Andrew regularly flew to so many breathtaking countries, including Spain, France, England, Switzerland, Argentina, Brazil, and Israel. His sense of adventure did not stop on his days off, and he traveled with his family to many other places within the United States, Europe, and Asia. He truly loved his profession – he enjoyed having the ability and opportunity to see the world, immerse himself in new cultures and cuisines, and experience iconic sights and landmarks.

Andrew was an active individual with many hobbies and interests. In addition to flying around the world, he loved bird watching, boating, cycling, fishing, hiking, hunting, pickleball, wrestling, and spending quality time with his beloved family. Andrew was a man of faith, and he was significantly involved within his church. He was, and will always continue to be, an inspiration and a blessing to all who knew him.

Andrew is survived by his wife, Denise C. (Barone) Kilanowski; son, Nicholas Alexander Kilanowski (Kristine); daughter, Kassandra Nicole Francis (Andrew); and brothers, Joseph, Nicholas, Christopher, and Eric. He was preceded in death by his brother, Matthew.

Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to attend a Mass in remembrance of Andrew at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Orefield, PA, on January 9, 2026, at 10:30 am ET or a Celebration of Life at New Day Christian Church, 7000 Sumter Crossing Drive, North Port, FL, on January 30, 2026, at 3:00 pm ET. Arrangements for Andrew J. Kilanowski have been entrusted to Heintzelman – Stephens Funeral Home, P. C.

In lieu of flowers, Andrew’s family requests that donations be made to charities and foundations that were near and dear to his heart including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Children’s Hospital, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or Lehigh Valley Audubon Society.
