Andrew Simpson Wight February 20, 1948 - February 18, 2018

Andrew “Andy” Simpson Wight, 69, of N. Whitehall Twp., crossed the rainbow bridge and joined his pups, Molly, Kayla, Maxi, and Kirby.  He passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018, at home with his puppy, Madison, by his side. He and his loving wife, Patrice “Patti” (Wanish) Wight, celebrated their 31st anniversary in December at Disney World.  Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he was a son of the late Charles John and Mary (Simpson) Wight.  After coming to the United States at the age of four, he grew up in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in 1965. He earned his Computer Science certification from NYU and his certification from the Methodist Hospital of Radiologic Technology.  After working in medical imaging technology sales for many years, Andy reinvented his career at the age of 59 to become the PACS administrator at Penn State Health Saint Joseph, Reading.  He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Allentown, where he served as an elder on Consistory and in its choir.  He coached his children’s youth leagues in bowling, softball, baseball, and soccer, enjoyed cooking, arts & crafts, and photography, and was always up to date with the latest computers and technology.  His greatest loves were his wife, kids, grandkids, “fur babies,” and his Gold Star Executive Costco membership.  If there are crockpots in Heaven, he probably has a pot roast cooking right now.  Survivors: wife; son, Eric Andrew Wight (Dana), Bucks County; daughter, Heather Wight (Ali), Allentown; step-daughter, Jill Augusta Clipper (John), S. Whitehall Twp.; brother, Charles Wight (Suzanne); sister, Georgina Ramos (Henry); grandchildren, Ethan, Abbie, Killian, Finn, Isla, Justin, Jamie; mother-in-law: Shirley (Roth) Wanish; sister-in-law: Grace Leayman (Joseph); nieces; nephews.  He was preceded in death by brother, James Wight, and step-mother, Mary (Laurich) Wight.  Services: 9:30 AM calling hour, 11 AM service Friday in church, 1547 W. Chew St.  Arrangements entrusted to STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME, INC.   Contributions: in lieu of flowers, to church 18102 or Center for Animal Health and Welfare.
