Anthony E. DeFiore September 4, 1964 - July 14, 2024

Anthony E. DeFiore, known affectionately as Tony, passed away July 14, 2024, in his hometown of Allentown, PA. He was born on September 4, 1964, to Mary Ann (Howard) DeFiore Orgler and Eugene DeFiore.

Tony was a graduate of William Allen Senior High School, class of 1982, and went on to pursue his passion for political sciences and economics at the University of Pittsburgh, earning his degree in 1986. He also acquired a post-graduate degree from New York University earning a Master’s in urban planning and public administration in 1990.

Tony’s early career as a city council legislative aide in Philadelphia was marked by his dedication to enhancing the lives of his neighbor constituents and his love for public government. He played a pivotal role in the design of numerous city projects. He returned to the Lehigh Valley in the early 2000s, where he spent the rest of his life as an educator at various institutions such as Southern Lehigh High School, Bucks County Community College, Muhlenberg College, and Lehigh Carbon Community College.

Tony was a devoted father to Miranda “Randi” DeFiore and was known for his presence at his daughter’s sporting events, concerts, or anything she may have been involved in.

Tony’s hobbies were as rich and varied as his professional life. He was an avid reader, a gardener, and a talented painter. His passion for Philadelphia sports teams as well as the Pitt football program were more than just a pastime; it was a way of life, with countless hours spent creating cherished memories with his family and friends. He was a parishioner of Cathedral/St. Catharine of Siena Church, Allentown.

Anthony E. DeFiore will be remembered as a loving partner, father, brother, and friend. His legacy will live on in the bridges he built, both in minds and in the hearts of those who knew him.

Sadly, Tony was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Andrea DeFiore. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family, especially his daughter “Randi”, and the many friends he’s touched over the years.

A service to celebrate Tony’s life will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 10 am at Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 274 N. Krocks Rd., Allentown 18106. A visitation will be held from 9 – 10 am Saturday in the funeral home. www.stephensfuneral.com Interment will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, the DeFiore family kindly requests donations be made to Warming Station (in the Allentown YMCA) and mailed to Greater Valley YMCA, 2132 S. 12th St., Suite 201, Allentown PA 18103.
