Attorney James J. McConnell February 20, 1937 - August 17, 2024

Attorney James J. McConnell, 87, formerly of Allentown passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, in his home in Macungie surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Lois E. (Herald) McConnell. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last February. James was born in Easton a son of the late Joseph A. and Ruth E. (Dentith) McConnell. He was a graduate of Allentown High School Class of 1954, Muhlenberg College Class of 1958 and received his law degree from the Dickinson School of Law. He began his career as a lawyer with Snyder, Doll and Schantz before starting his own private practice. James was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard serving as the Captain of the Port of New York. He was a member of The Church of St. Ann, Emmaus. James was a life member of the Lehman Lake Rod and Gun Club. Jim enjoyed meeting friends for coffee, solving crossword puzzles, fishing, old movies and had a love of classical music.

Survivors: Wife; daughter, Kathryn R. and her husband Thomas D. Steinmetz of North Wales, PA; grandsons, Daniel and James. He was pre-deceased by his brother Joey McConnell.

Services: A celebration of James life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 7th in the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. 274 North Krocks Road, Allentown.  Friends and family may call from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. www.stephensfuneral.com.
