Barry B. Bickel November 22, 1940 - October 8, 2018
Barry B. Bickel, 77, of Whitehall, passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 in the L.V. Hospital, Salisbury Twp. He was the husband of Jean Ann (Blankenbiller) Bickel. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on September 18th. Born in York on November 22, 1940, he was a son of the late Charles I. and Bernice L. (Gise) Bickel. Barry was a graduate of Coventry H.S., Class of 1958. He attended Lincoln Tech to study Electronics. Barry was a sound engineer at WKAP radio in Allentown for 10 years. He also worked as an electronics technician at Tu Way Communications from 1973 until retiring in 1999. As a teen, Barry volunteered at the Pottstown Fire Department. He was a founding member of Eastern PA EMS Council and was a volunteer at Cetronia Ambulance Corps for over 51 years (1967 until the present). Barry was one of the first people certified as an EMT in the state of PA. Mr. Bickel was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 29 in Cetronia for 37 years. He received the Shining Star Award for volunteer service to the community in 2009 from St. Luke’s Hospital. Barry was a member of Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, Allentown, where he served as a deacon, was a member of many committees and for over 40 years oversaw the Sound Ministry.
Survivors: Wife, Jean Ann; Sons: Pastor Mark and his wife Sue of Brookhaven and step children Andrew, Bekah, Matt, Elizabeth, Tim and Hannah; Paul and his wife Miranda of Cetronia and children Micah and Erin; Sister-In-Law: Sharon Bickel of Reading. Barry was predeceased by his brother Pastor Darnell L. Bickel.
