Brian Stello, M.D. March 7, 1960 - February 2, 2024

Brian Stello, M.D., 63, of Breinigsville, PA passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Inpatient Hospice Unit. He was the husband of Toiya (Jenkins) Stello whom he married on May 30, 2015, and a devoted father to his sons Gianni and Logan. Brian was born March 7, 1960, in Montour County, PA, a son of the late Paul V. and Theresa Mary (Romanoski) Stello. He graduated from Holy Name High School, Reading, PA Class of 1978.  At the time of his passing, Dr. Stello was serving as Vice Chair for Quality and Safety for the LVHN Department of Family Medicine and as an Associate Medical Director for Quality for LVPG, while caring for patients at LVPG-L Macungie Family Medicine.  Dr. Stello received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Albright College in Reading, PA where he also served as the President of the Student Government in his Senior year.  He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College, where again he demonstrated his leadership, serving as both President and Treasurer of the Phi Alpha Sigma Medical Fraternity.  He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, PA serving as Chief resident.  Upon completion of his training, Dr. Stello joined LVPG, initially at Trexlertown and subsequently became the founding Medical Director at the Lehigh Valley Health Center, where he served as an integral faculty member for the Family Medicine Residency for over 30 years. He was well respected, receiving clinical teaching awards from both medical students and residents, and was the recipient of the inaugural and prestigious Asclepius Award in Family Medicine (for Teacher of the year).  He was active as an educator, quality leader and researcher with multiple administrative roles including Director of Network Development, Director of the Institutional Review Board and Vice Chair of Research and Quality, over the course of an impressive career.  A well-respected Primary Care Cancer Screening researcher, Brian brought his passion for equitable patient care and brilliance of design to many research studies including a Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute award and a National Cancer Institute award. In addition to his clinical, leadership and teaching roles, Brian’s research endeavors were profound sources of pride, joy and friendship.

Brian was an avid, lifelong comic book reader and collector and Philadelphia Eagles Fan. He loved his travels to Europe and enjoyed living in Philadelphia during his medical school training. Brian wanted to be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, Doctor, and teacher.

Survivors: In addition to his wife and sons, he is survived by three stepdaughters, Diamond, Briana and Alyssa; sisters, Michelle Mulherin, Sinking Spring; Lisa Sachetta, wife of Richard, Sinking Spring; brother, Tim Stello, Kensington, MD; niece Katrina Mulherin, and nephew Daniel Sachetta.

Services: A “Celebration of Life” will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 11:00 – 1:00 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest Campus 1200 South Cedar Crest Boulevard, Allentown, PA.
