David Alan Gross September 13, 1961 - April 29, 2024

David Alan Gross, 62, of Allentown, passed away suddenly, on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Lehigh Valley Hospital. Born September 13, 1961, he was the son of the late James William and Patricia (Boyle) Gross. David was the devoted husband to Cheryl (Hoffman) Gross and the loving father of Justin David Gross and Courtney Taylor Gross. David dedicated his entire professional life to law enforcement. He worked for South Whitehall Police Department for 31 years. During this time, David was a department Field Training Officer, Defensive Tactics Instructor, and member of the Lehigh County Emergency Response Team. After his retirement from South Whitehall PD, David joined the Kutztown University Police Department where he served as an Officer, Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, and Defensive Tactics Instructor. He was a former volunteer firefighter, and proudly ran with the Woodlawn, Wescosville, and Cetronia Fire Departments. David devoted his life to serving his community, saving numerous lives and winning multiple awards.

David was a long-time member of Nativity Lutheran Church, Allentown, PA. In his spare time, David was an avid Philadelphia Flyers fan, he also loved playing with his beloved dog, Kody. Above all, David loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them whenever he could. In addition to his wife of 34 years, Cheryl and his children, Justin and Courtney, David is survived by his siblings, J. William Gross Jr. (Cyndi), Jane Ferguson (David), and twin sister Kathryn Gross; his in-laws, Nancy and Charles Hoffman, sister-in-law Tracy Hoffman, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two sisters, Pamela Gaughan and Jennifer Weida.

A viewing will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Stephens Funeral Home, 274 N. Krocks Rd. Allentown, PA 18106 with funeral services beginning at 12:00 pm. Burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
