Denise C. Garrity June 24, 1958 - April 4, 2021

Denise C. Garrity, 62, of Allentown, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021, in her home surrounded by loving family.  She and her husband, Tom, celebrated 31 years of devoted marriage.  Born in Glendora NJ, she was a daughter of Wanda (Kozikowski) Zammer and the late William Zammer, Sr.  She was a 1976 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School and earned her Associate degree from Penn State.  Denise spent 17 years as a successful realtor employed at Patt White, Prudential, and most recently RE/MAX, all while raising four children.  Previously, she was employed as an assistant manager at Health Spectrum Medical Products.  A devout member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was involved in outreach programs for new families.  Although Denise described herself as an introvert, anyone who spent time with her near a speaker or microphone would have a hard time believing that.  She had no fear of dancing and singing with friends and strangers alike.  She attended countless concerts, especially Dave Matthews Band and John Mellencamp.  She was not a fan of a nice relaxing lawn seat – she headed straight for “the pits”, even the day after a chemo treatment.  Denise felt a special connection to the beach, especially a quiet one.  As she did with everything, she spent months planning the annual trip to the Outer Banks.  Her family will continue those annual trips but is prepared for the lodging and food quality to take a steep dive in her absence.  Survivors: husband; mother; sons, Christopher Spence (Mashpee MA), Joe and wife, Trisha (York), John (Denver CO); daughter, Catherine and fiancé, Eric Frans (Towson MD); grandchildren, Avery and Ethan Spence; brothers, William, Jr. and wife, Linda, Lou, Tom; sister, Wandie Little; numerous members of extended family.  She was preceded in death by brother, Bobby, and her father, William Sr.  Services: Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas More, 1040 Flexer Ave. Allentown, at 11 AM on Saturday, April 10, with a visitation from 10 AM until Mass.  There will also be a visitation from 6-8 PM Friday at Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 274 N. Krocks Rd.  Allentown.  Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Allentown.  Contributions: In lieu of flowers, to Women’s 5K Classic or Lehigh Valley Hospice.
