Diane M. Saylor July 29, 1942 - October 14, 2024

Diane M. Saylor, 82, passed away October 14, 2024, hand in hand with her beloved husband of over 65 years, Donald G. Saylor. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of James and Frances (Witkowski) Crossley and graduated from Dieruff High School. For over 30 years, Diane and Don proudly owned and operated The Shanty Restaurant, a cherished Allentown dining institution where her smile was known to all who entered. In retirement, Diane’s life continued to center around the family she created and loved so dearly, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Outside of her family, Diane could be found enjoying a glass of wine (or two!) with her best friends, playing bridge, or reading for her book club.  She was a steady presence in her family, one that could be relied upon for softness and understanding, even if times were tough. Through her final days, she held her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in her arms and her husband in her hands. She passed in peace, knowing how deeply she was loved and that she will never, ever, be forgotten.

Diane will be profoundly missed by her husband, Donald; sons: David K. Saylor and Dirk M. Saylor; grandchildren: Regina, Chad and wife Rebeccah, James and wife Kaitlin, Madison; great-grandchildren: Hadley, Donny, and Lincoln; sister: Barbara Sell; and by all who were fortunate enough to ever know her.
