Dorothy Brewster Hansell January 10, 1932 - February 11, 2018

Dorothy Brewster Hansell was born on January 10, 1932 in Washington, D.C. Dottie, as she was affectionately called, was the older sister to the late William Brewster. During her childhood she lived in various places in the surrounding Philadelphia area. She attended Agnes Irwin. She married Martin Kohler Hansell, Sr. in 1952. They had three sons. While raising the boys, Dottie assisted her husband in his real estate business until his death in 1996. Dottie was devoted to family but had other interests as well. She did quilting, making a quilt for each of her ten grandchildren. She sewed, knitted, and made cabbage patch dolls. She was an avid reader. Her volunteer endeavors included Montgomery Hospital, Valley Forge Cabin Shop, Alter Guild, choir member and Common Ground at her condo complex. She also loved entertaining and showing hospitality to others.

Dottie is survived by her son Martin, Jr. and wife Linda of Baltimore, MD, son Bruce and his wife Martha of Hershey, PA, and son Phillip and his wife Patricia of Allentown, PA. She was the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren; Jody and husband David Plitt, Teri and husband Benjamin van Essen, Jamie Hansell, Lori and husband John Wilson, Joshua Hansell, Brett Hansell, Jason Hansell, Rachael Hansell, Jordan Hansell and Jonathan Hansell. She was also a great grandmother to six children. She is survived by one brother-in-law, John Hansell.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11 AM at the Washington Memorial Chapel at Valley Forge, Route 23, Valley Forge, PA. There will be a viewing from 10:00 – 10:45 am at Washington Memorial Chapel. Interment will be private. Arrangements by Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. www.stephensfuneral.com.
