After a brief illness Dr. Jeffrey W. Thompson, 78,  died on February 28, 2024 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Jeff was born along with his twin brother, William, in Youngstown Ohio to Kathryn (Hoover) and Edwin Rowe Thompson on July 2, 1945.
He spent his younger years growing up in Boardman , Ohio before moving to Canfield, where he graduated with the class of 1963. Jeff spent idyllic summers starting as a camper and working through counselor levels  at his beloved YMCA Camp Fitch on Lake Erie. The rest of his summers were spent at the family cottage, the Hoover cottage, that has remained in the family for over 100 years, on Bass Lake, Lake Michigan. As a teenager he was very active with gymnastics at the Youngstown YMCA,

He was a 1968, cum laude graduate of Wittenberg University in Springfield Ohio, majoring in chemistry. Jeff graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School  in 1972 and furthered his medical training in internal medicine in Reading PA.

In June of 1972 he married Linda Mamone, also a  Wittenberg University graduate. They celebrated almost 52 years of marriage.
Jeff spent many years as a medical director at the former AT& T in Allentown PA before gravitating back to practicing family medicine.
Jeff’s greatest joy was being a loving dad to his two daughters and later as a grandpa to his beloved grandsons. He and his wife enjoyed ocean and lake vacations, trips to NYC, Europe, and driving cross-country. In his youth and in retirement Jeff could be found playing his guitar, researching medical journals and maintaining his pool and property. He loved working outdoors and was also passionate about supporting animal charities.

Jeff was a kind and generous man, always wanting to make life easier for others.

Jeff is survived by his wife, daughters Courtney Hutchens (Peter), Caitlin (Sean Whitson) and grandsons Elliot and Benjamin Hutchens and Kipp Whitson. He leaves his sister Karen Thompson Roth, his brother-in-law, Nicholas Mamone and his wife Kristen Kjerulff. Jeff was predeceased by his infant twin brother, his parents, sister Bobbie Fluke-Fabish and brother Alan Thompson. Jeff will be greatly missed by his loving family and dear friends.

A celebration of life will take place at a later time. Stephens Funeral Home, Allentown, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
