Elizabeth (Burgess) Winters, 94, of Coopersburg, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021, in Fellowship Terrace, Whitehall. She was the wife of the late Arthur R. Winters, Jr. Born in Pittsfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd P. and Elisabeth (Watson) Burgess. Elizabeth was a graduate of Simmons College in Boston, MA. She worked as a copy editor and proofreader for the Atlantic magazine. Betty was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Emmaus. She was a volunteer and coordinator (for 18 years) for the American Cancer Society Reach to Recovery Program.

As a lover of the written word, Betty was always keeping in contact with friends and family through notes and letters. Her upbringing under a proper New England code of ethics made everyone know that they were being thought of no matter where they lived. A multidimensional lifelong learner, she was engaged politically and environmentally alongside her late husband of nearly 50 years, Art.
