Elmer R. Rice January 5, 1937 - March 5, 2018

Elmer R. “Sonny” Rice, 81, of Macungie, formerly of Zionsville, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Health Network, Salisbury Twp.  He and his wife, Alice H. (Arthur), were married for 59 ½ years.  Born in Macungie, he was the son of the late Elmer V. and Clara (Miller) Rice.  He was an Air Force veteran and earned the rank of airman first class.  Prior to retiring in 1999, Sonny was a small tool mechanic employed at Knoll, Inc. for 38 years.  A former member of Church of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Alburtis, he served on the board of Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling and had coached softball for Upper Milford Youth Association.  Survivors: wife; sons, Robert L. and wife, Carolyn M., Emmaus, Dennis M. and wife, Tammy S., Zionsville; daughter, Lori R. Bennicoff and husband, Allan S., Macungie; grandchildren, Rebecca, Sarah, Cody, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Amanda, Alyssa; great granddaughters, Mackenzie, Isabella.  Services: 11 AM Thursday at STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 274 N. Krocks Rd. Allentown.  Call 10 AM until service time.  Interment will be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.  Contributions: to Cedarbrook Nursing Home, 350 S. Cedarbrook Rd. Allentown 18104.
