Ethel Grider March 7, 1927 - December 11, 2025
Ethel (Goach) Grider, 98, of Allentown, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Country Meadows of Allentown, where she had been residing. She was the wife of the late Thomas E. Grider. Born in Hazleton, Luzerne County, on March 7, 1927, Ethel was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Keyock) Goach. She worked as a medical records clerk at the former Allentown Hospital for 25 years before retiring in 1998. She was an active member of the former Salem United Church of Christ, Allentown. Ethel was a former member of the Allentown Women’s Club, a Brownie leader, a junior aide at the former Allentown Hospital, and a former volunteer at the Allentown Food Bank. She was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, Allentown, where she formerly volunteered.
Survivors: Daughter, Debra S. Grainger and her husband, George III of Port Washington Wisconsin; granddaughters, Courtney L. Holben and Elisabeth B. (Holben) Strain and her husband, John; great grandchildren, Zoey and Jack. Predeceased by daughter, Jane A. Holben; brothers, John, George, Thomas and Emil Goach; sisters, Helen Hisak and Martha Nelmes.
Service: A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Jordan U.C.C., 1837 Church Road, Allentown, with the Rev. Dr. David Charles Smith officiating. No public calling hours. Interment will conclude services at Greenwood Cemetery, Allentown. The Heintzelman-Stephens Funeral Home, P.C., Allentown, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
