Flor Wilson January 12, 1950 - June 22, 2025

Flor Wilson, 75, of Allentown, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, after a sudden and aggressive illness. She fought to the very end, just as anyone who knew her would expect.

Flor was born in Escuintla, Guatemala, the daughter of the late Rafael Marco Horacio Sanchez Celayandia and Ana Alejandrina Mejía Sowers, and stepdaughter of the late Stanley Sowers. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education in Guatemala before moving to the United States and building a life full of family, music, laughter, and love.

She was the devoted wife of Edward W. Wilson; they would have celebrated 52 years of marriage in July. Together they created a home that was always open — Mimi and Papi’s house was known for its warmth and welcome, where friends and family could walk in without notice, open the fridge, and instantly feel at home. It was always filled with people, food, music, and endless celebration.

Flor dedicated 30 years to the Allentown School District, retiring in 2012 as a Parent Educator. Throughout her career, she worked closely families facing challenges, helping countless children at risk for developmental and health issues. She was a foster mother to more than a dozen children. Her love and care extended far beyond her own family — she planted seeds of kindness, encouragement, and hope in so many young lives.

Flor’s greatest joy and true calling was loving her family fiercely and completely. Sundays were her favorite — family dinners where she could gather everyone close, talk, laugh, and make everyone feel special.

She was life itself: a bright light, a comfort in hard times, the first to compliment you and lift you up. Her love was a gift to everyone she met — she was a billionaire of kindness and generosity, and she shared her wealth freely. Because of her work and her open heart, people she never even met are living better, healthier lives today without ever knowing the reason why.

She is survived by her husband Edward; her son, Edward L. Wilson and his wife Michelle of Whitehall; her daughter, Margaret W. Rishel and her husband Thomas Hyatt of Macungie; her grandchildren: Jordan Wilson, Cameron Wilson, Katelyn Wilson, Lillian Rishel, Jack Rishel, Norah Wilson, and Mason Paukovits; four great-grandchildren; her sisters, Alicia Kowalchuk and her husband Andrew of Allentown, and Margarita Yerk of Florida; and her kitten, Mini. Her loss leaves a hole in the hearts of her family and all who were lucky enough to know her.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

As Flor always instilled: “Live your life the way you want, the way that makes you happy. Don’t put up with any bull. And never miss a chance to be with your family.” May we all honor her by doing just that.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Lehigh Valley Humane Society, 640 Dixon Street, Allentown, PA 18103.
