Geraldine S. Dettra May 16, 1932 - December 4, 2025,

Geraldine S. Dettra (Wenhold), 93, of Allentown, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Phoebe Home. Born May 16, 1932, in Allentown, she was the daughter of Clarence and Mildred (Wenhold) Hoffman. She was the wife of the late Clifford H. Dettra, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2013.

Geraldine worked as an executive secretary for many years and was employed by UGI and Lehigh University. During her time at Lehigh, Geraldine proudly typed 4 books for professors that were distributed throughout the world. Geraldine was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Allentown, PA. She was also a former member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Emmaus VFW #7088, and a member of the Allentown VFW, #2124. She was very involved working with the VFW Children’s Home and her church’s Helping Hands Ministry. She loved reading, listening to music, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Lee Steigerwalt (wife of David), son, Glenn A. Dettra (Victoria), brother, Joseph Hoffman (Janice), grandchildren Jamie Dettra, Alexandra Steigerwalt, Lynne Dettra, and Evan Steigerwalt, sister-in-law Dawn Sanderlin, nephew Nathan Hoffman (Susan), and niece Jessica Mignone (Michael). She was predeceased by her brother Robert Sanderlin.

A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Allentown, 1808 N. 19th St., Allentown 18104 on December 28th, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Friends and relatives may call from 1 pm to 2 pm prior to the 1 pm service. Burial will take place privately. Heintzelman-Stephens Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
