James H. Bechtold June 11, 1937 - June 4, 2024

James H. Bechtold, 86, formerly of Whitehall and Aquashicola, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Phoebe Richland in Richlandtown, PA.  Born in 1937, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Parker) Bechtold. James honorably served his country in the United States National Guard.  After his service, he worked at Mack Trucks, Allentown, PA for over 25 years before retiring in 1999 as a specifications analyst.  Jim was a big fan of Penn State Football games. He spent many years fishing and collecting antiques. He often enjoyed a good cheesesteak and a Yuengling at the Brass Rail. He was also a lifetime member at the Fullerton Fire Hall.

James is survived by his children, Cynthia Zenz (Anthony), Timothy Bechtold, and Matthew Bechtold, partner Paul Ziegenfus, brothers Richard Bechtold and Ronald Bechtold, grandchildren Jessica, Kaitlin, Erica, Tessa, and Kevin, eight great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Ann Warmkessel, John Bechtold, Robert Bechtold, Charles “Bull” Bechtold, and William Bechtold.

Services will be held Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Stephens Funeral Home, 274 N. Krocks Rd. Allentown, PA 18106. A calling hour will be held from 12:30-1:00.
