Jane Montz Hermany November 9, 1924 - October 28, 2023
It is with heavy hearts and fond memories, that we announce the passing of Jane Montz Hermany, a beloved matriarch and the heart and soul of our family. She passed away peacefully on October 28th, 2023, leaving behind an indelible mark on all of us, rejoining the love of her life, Paul, her husband for 61 yrs. Jane was born on November 9, 1924, to Robert W. and Grace B. Montz in Palmerton, PA and from that moment on she radiated warmth, love, grace, and kindness. Her life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and profound impact one person can have on the lives of those they touch. Throughout her life, Jane dedicated herself to the well-being and happiness of her family. She was not only a mother, but also a mentor and friend always there to provide guidance and wisdom, to her 17 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren. Jane was a graduate of Westchester State College, having embarked on a teaching career in the Wallingford School District. She was married in 1946 and taught for 4 years before beginning her family and moving to Allentown in 1954 to help her husband begin his practice in Family Medicine.
Jane was an avid reader and began each day scouring the Morning Call cover to cover, and then getting lost in a biography, novel or historical book. Music played a central role in her life with a great appreciation for Frank Sinatra, Classical Piano, and an occasional trip to the Deerhead Inn to hear live Jazz. Jane was a gamer and very competitive, and while she enjoyed winning, for her it was more about the time spent playing board games with her many grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was a devout Jeopardy fan and everyone knew not to call her from 7-7:30pm every evening as she consistently out answered her family. Watching Sports was her passion and she enjoyed placing a parlay wager on College and NFL games right up until her last days. She also loved fishing in Canada and caught her last largemouth at the age of 97! Jane filled up a room and was the guest of honor at EVERY event, from Holiday Dinners, to Family Picnics, to car trips to Boston and Chicago, to simple gatherings with her close friends. She was a beautiful soul and those whose lives she touched were better for the experience.
Jane was predeceased by her children David L. Hermany and Susan Hermany Aronchick, wife of Craig Aronchick, MD, she is survived by her sons Paul R. Hermany, MD husband of Denise Hermany of Hilltown, Robert L. Hermany of Center Valley, and daughter Ann Hermany Kaufhold of Gulph Mills, PA.
