Janet L. Heffner June 21, 1940 - February 6, 2026

Janet L. (Gangewer) Heffner, 85, of Allentown, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, surrounded by the love and presence of her family. Janet  left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her through her quiet resilience, warm heart, and constant dedication to her family.

Born in Allentown on June 21, 1940, Janet was the daughter of the late John W. and Blanche Lorraine (Burrell) Gangewer. She grew up with strong family values, a love of community, and a deep appreciation for hard work—qualities that guided her throughout her life and became the foundation of the legacy she leaves behind. Janet  enjoyed a long and dedicated career as the executive assistant to the late Philip Berman.

She is survived by her son, Terry C. Heffner of Bethlehem; her daughter, Judith L. Gross of Coplay; and her beloved grandchildren, Lindsay and her husband, Jeff; Jenna and her husband, Isaiah; and Jessica, all of whom brought immeasurable joy into her life. Janet was also blessed with a treasured great‑granddaughter, Aria.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. “Butch” Heffner, with whom she shared a loving marriage, and by her sister, Judith Troxell, whom she held close in memory throughout her life.

Janet will be remembered for her warm heart, her grounded and steady nature, and the way she always made her family feel supported, cherished, and understood. Whether gathered around her kitchen table or celebrating family milestones, she created a home filled with love, humor, and traditions that will live on through the generations.

Service: A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of her family. Interment will follow the service at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
