KATHLEEN ELIZABETH MERSEREAU, 1944-2025 August 18, 1944 - May 3, 2025

Kathleen Elizabeth (Hughes) Mersereau (“Kathie”) was called to Eternal Rest on May 3, 2025 at Mosser Nursing Home in Breinigsville, PA. She was 80 years old and a Breinigsville resident since 2010.

Kathie was born on August 18, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the first of two children to Harold and Elva Hughes. At the time of her birth, Harold was with the U.S. Army stationed in England, meeting his first daughter only after the conclusion of his wartime service. Kathie graduated from Westfield High School in Westfield, New Jersey in 1962. She married Richard Mersereau in 1967 and became a mother to two children of her own.

After the conclusion of her marriage Kathie worked in several jobs while residing in Fanwood, New Jersey, and raising her daughter and son. She worked as a Corporate Travel Agent. Most recently for the American Express Company among other agencies  and also as a florist for many years at the Meeker Garden Center in Westfield. Throughout her life she was a talented visual artist with many types of media, creating everything from flower arrangements to drawings to unique and funny Halloween costumes. She also excelled at making stained and fused glass creations.

Kathie was admired for her strong and witty sense of humor, her welcoming spirit, and her tremendous love for her family. She took great pride in being an active “Mammy” to her six beautiful grandchildren, and fostered numerous rich friendships that lasted many decades. She was also well traveled and accumulated many diverse experiences in countries around the world.

Kathie is predeceased by her parents Harold and Elva and her former brother-in-law, John Mersereau. She is survived by: sister Carole V. Clancy (James); daughter Kelly Mersereau Lovell (Jude) and son Scott Mersereau (Catherine); grandchildren Corinne, Jane, Patrick, and Cavan Lovell and Brooke and Gwen Mersereau; former husband Richard Mersereau; former sister-in-law Carole Mersereau; ; and niece and nephews Michelle Mersereau, Bradley Mersereau, Christopher Clancy and Matthew Clancy and their families.

Kathleen will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ
