Kathryn T. Dieter March 3, 1928 - June 10, 2022

Kathryn T. Dieter, 94, formerly of Allentown, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022, in Livewell Assisted Nursing Facility, Plantsville, CT surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Reverend Sherwood L. Dieter. Kathryn was born in Palmerton, a daughter of the late Paul O. and Beatrice M. (Diehl) Frantz. She grew up in Forest Inn, where she has fond memories of living on the family farm, Union Hill, and Lehighton.

Kathryn was a graduate of Lehighton High School Class of 1946. She received an associate’s degree from Hiram College, Hiram, OH and was a member of one of the first classes to graduate from the Sacred Heart School of Medical Technologists in 1949. She was employed as a medical technologist at the Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia from 1956-1957 and for the Sacred Heart Hospital for a total of 25 nonconsecutive years before retiring in 1991.

Kathryn was a choir member since the age of 12 starting in Jacob’s U.C.C., Weissport, where she was baptized and confirmed. She shared in her husband’s ministry, as a member of: St. Luke’s, Obelisk; Bethany Lutheran, Stony Creek Mills; Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran, Old Zionsville; St. Michael’s Lutheran, Allentown; and Redeemer Lutheran, Allentown.  Kathryn also was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, VA from 2001-9.  She volunteered with the Girl Scouts, Lutheran church youth ministry, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and served as a Stephen Minister.  She was a member of the WELCA for 40 years.  She sang with the Macungie Minstrelaires for seven years.

Survivors: Daughters, Nancy S. and her husband Keith T. Egloff of Williamsburg, VA, Martha L. and her husband Alan L. Blume of Cheshire, CT; four grandchildren, Nathan L. Egloff of Columbia, MD (Katie); Joshua P. Egloff of Roanoke, VA (Caroline); Phoebe R. Blume of Binghamton, NY, and Margaret I. Blume of Cheshire, CT; and one great-grandson, Levi C. Egloff of Roanoke, VA.

Services: A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 20, 2022, in Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5901 Kings Highway South, Old Zionsville, PA with a calling period from 10:30 – 11:00 am (8/20/2022) in the church.
