Margaret A. Sokasits January 16, 1933 - August 7, 2017

Margaret Sokasits died August 7, 2017, at Holy Family Manor.  She was 84.  Margaret was the sixth of 11 children born to the late Joseph and Anna (Janesch) Ponstingl.  She was salutatorian of her 1951 Coopersburg High School class; in 1954, she earned an RN from Sacred Heart Nursing School.  She worked in hospital, geriatric and home care settings.  She was a devoted Catholic who volunteered for Altar Rosary Society, and belonged first to Holy Family, then Our Lady Help of Christians churches.  Her hobbies included genealogy, quilting, sewing, and Red Hat Society.  Survivors: Children, David, Anita, Joseph, and Jonathan Sokasits (Karen Shafsiek); sisters, Cecilia Brooks and Elizabeth Hussey (Carl); brothers, Aloysius, John, and Charles (Jean) Ponstingl; nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sisters, Gisela Wunderler, Anna Repasch and Marie Ponstingl; her brothers, Joseph and Francis Ponstingl; and her former husband, Frank F. Sokasits.  Services: Saturday, August 12, all at Immaculate Conception Church, 501 Ridge Ave. Allentown.  Visitation 9 AM, Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM, followed by interment in Resurrection Cemetery.  Arrangements by STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME, INC.  Contributions: In lieu of flowers, the family requests Mass cards.
