Maria E. Kalady August 13, 1942 - January 4, 2026

Maria E. Kalady, age 83, formerly of Allentown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026. Born August 13, 1942, in Palmerton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank Krawchuk and Xenia (Kochenash). She was lovingly married to Richard A. Kalady for 59 years before his passing in 2022. Both Richard and Maria were long-time involved members of Saint Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Allentown, PA.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maria found her greatest joy in being with family. Her home was always a place of comfort, laughter, and togetherness where everyone was welcomed and well-fed. Cooking was one of her greatest expressions of love, and her food and meals brought family and friends together for countless cherished memories. Some of her signature dishes included home-made chicken soup, creamed chipped beef for the masses, countless Christmas cookies, and crème de mint cake. Maria was known for her kindness, generosity, and steady presence. She prioritized being together and cherished every birthday, holiday, sports game, or school event. She gave selflessly of her time and heart, always putting the needs of her family before her own. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she created, the values she passed down, and the love she shared so freely.

Maria is survived by her children, Lisa Eisler (Robert), Mark Kalady (Meg), Michael Kalady (Mary), Dr Matthew Kalady (Skyler). Grandchildren, Emily (Matthew), Brendan, Molly (Danny), Madelyn, Maeve, Kaitlyn, Michael Jr., Peter, Matthew Jr., Nicholas, Luke, and Sophia. Great-grandchildren, Romeo and Arlo, all of whom will miss her deeply and remember her always. She was predeceased by her sister Kathleen.

A Mass will take place on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Saint Thomas More, R.C.C. 1040 Flexer Avenue., Allentown, PA, at 11:00 AM. A calling hour will be held prior to mass from 9:45-10:45. Heintzelman-Stephens Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that her memory be honored by sharing a meal or drink with loved ones, or performing an act of kindness in her name.
