Michael Jay King October 15, 1954 - June 5, 2025

It is with loving hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Jay King, who left us on June 5, 2025, after a brief but fierce battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 70 years old.
Born in Gettysburg, he was a son of Melvalene E. (Nace) King of Mechanicsburg and the late J. Richard King.
Mike was a Christian man and the best role model on how to be a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Mike grew up in Harrisburg and Mechanicsburg around his large family, including 15 cousins, in the Hanover, PA area. He graduated from Mechanicsburg High School, and then went on to attend Penn State University where he earned a degree in Accounting and became a fan of the Nittany Lions. During his college years, he started his lifelong beer can collection.
Mike then was hired by the Penn State Bookstore which is where he met his wife, Lucinda “Cindy” Salatino King. They bought their first house and started their family in State College before moving to Coopersburg, PA to pursue an MBA and work at Lehigh University. He was the Bursar at Lehigh for many years before retiring in 2019.
Mike retired to enjoy his hobbies; kayaking, biking, camping, fishing, and hunting. In November 2024, he got his largest buck ever, an 8 pointer. He had an unfinished goal of hiking part of the Appalachian Trail in each of the 14 states.
He loved his yearly trips to Cape May, NJ where he jumped waves with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. During retirement, he loved steaming clams and shucking oysters. And after a trip to Italy, enjoyed serving after dinner Amaros.
Mike enjoyed playing, coaching, and attending baseball games. He also enjoyed coaching and watching his children play soccer. Throughout his life, he found time for trips to the Triple Crown horse races.
