Pastor Carol V. Lawfer April 3, 1950 - June 9, 2019

Pastor Carol V. Lawfer, 69, of Stony Run, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Norwood “Woody” H. Lawfer. They would have been married for 44 years this August.  Carol was born in Coaldale, a daughter of the late Donald R. and Ruth B. (Bennett) Vinson.  She was a graduate of Tamaqua Area High School Class of 1968. Carol continued her education, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, her Masters in English from Lehigh University, and Masters of Divinity from Moravian Theological Seminary.  Pastor Carol served as pastor at the Lansford United Methodist and Summit Hill United Methodist Churches; Salem Berne United Methodist Church, Hamburg; and Diamond United Methodist Church, Hazleton, PA. She enjoyed quilting and cooking, was an avid reader, and spending summer vacations in Maine with her family.

Survivors: Husband; sons, Brian S. and his wife Susan W. Lawfer of Barnesville, PA, Nathan A. and his wife Erika L. Lawfer of Lincoln University, PA; daughter, Laura L. and her husband Timothy J. Orr of Norfolk, VA; brothers, Richard and his wife Karen Vinson of Honeoye, NY, David and his wife Janet Vinson of The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren, Julia, Kevin, Evie, Nathan, Caroline, and Josephine.  She was pre-deceased by her son Stephen Todd Lawfer in 1981 and her brother William Vinson.

Services: 10:30 A.M. Friday in the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. 274 North Krocks Road, Allentown. Call 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. Friday in the funeral home.  Interment will be in the New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Kutztown.  www.stephensfuneral.com.
