Richard L. Wert August 18, 1928 - December 12, 2024

Richard L. Wert, 96, of Allentown passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024, in Country Meadows, Allentown. He was the husband of Doris M. (Rowlands) Wert. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary last February. Born in Slatington on August 18, 1928, he was the son of the late Wilson Wert and Margaret (Williams) Warren. Richard was a graduate of Slatington High School Class of 1946. He enlisted in the Army and served in 1st Cavalry Division and 8th Cav. Regt. during World War II in Tokyo, Japan. Dick was employed by Chrysler First, a Subsidiary of Chrysler Corp. for 37 years before retiring as Vice President/Regional Manager in 1989. Dick was a member of Jordan Martin Lodge # 673 F&A.M., Lehigh Consistory, Rajah Shrine, and Past Commander Rajah Legion of Honor. He was an avid skier and was a member of the Mack Ski Club.

Survivors: Wife, nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Joan Burgess.

Services: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 17th in the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. 274 North Krocks Road, Allentown. Friends and family may call from 9:00 – 10:00 A.M. Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in the Cedar Union Church, Cemetery.
