Robert F. “Butch” Heffner September 13, 1938 - June 25, 2025

Robert F. “Butch” Heffner, 86, of Allentown, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Janet L. (Gangewer) Heffner, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage marked by love and laughter.

Born in Allentown on September 13, 1938, Butch was the proud son of the late Curtis and Margaret (Koch) Heffner. Known for his competitive spirit and love of the game, Butch lived out a childhood dream when he became a Major League Baseball pitcher, playing for the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, and California Angels from 1957 to 1968. His passion, grit, and sportsmanship left a lasting mark on all who watched him on the mound.

Following his athletic career, Butch worked at Banko Beverage Co, Allentown for over 30 years before retiring in 2006.

Butch will be remembered for his athleticism and cheerful disposition. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the memories he created with those who were fortunate to know him.

Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Janet; children, Terry C. Heffner of Bethlehem, Judy L. Gross of Coplay; siblings, Richard Heffner and his wife, Joan of Hershey, Donald Heffner of Allentown, Bonita White of Allentown; granddaughter, Lindsay and her husband, Jeff, Jenna and her husband, Isaiah, Jessica; great granddaughter, Aria; predeceased by sisters, Joyce Frey and Diane Adams.
