Robert H. Miller August 3, 1926 - November 16, 2017

Robert Harris Miller, 91, formerly of Akron, Pa., passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall.  In recent years he also resided at Country Meadows and Woodland Terrace. He enjoyed 58 years of marriage with his wife Esther S. (Marshall) Miller who preceded him in death in 2011.  Robert was born in Montgomery, Pa., and was the son of Harold E. and Helen M. (Fegley) Miller.  He was a graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School and Lycoming College, Class of 1949.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force.

Robert spent his entire career with Acme Markets, later known as American Stores Company.  He began as a grocery bagger and rose through many ranks of the company, eventually becoming Vice President and General Manager of the Skyline Division.  He and his wife were charter members of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Dallas, Pa., and Northway United Presbyterian Church, Williamsport.

Robert was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and closely followed U.S. politics, reading three newspapers every day.

Survivors: Daughter, Martha and her husband John Schwartz of Macungie; son, J. Brian and his wife JoAnne Miller of Morrow, Ohio; grandchildren, Brian Schwartz, Lauren Schwartz and her husband Tim Cox, and Gillian Schwartz; great-granddaughter, Coraline Cox; brother-in-law, Clyde and his wife Jean Marshall of Roaring Branch, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.

Services: A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Friedens Lutheran Church, 741 Brick Church Road, Liberty, Pa. 16930. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
