Ruth T. Miller February 21, 1941 - November 18, 2022

Ruth Naomi Terry Miller, died November 18, 2022, surrounded by her family at Luther Crest in Allentown at age 81.  Ruth was born February 21, 1941 in Shenandoah, PA, to the late Ralph and Miriam Terry.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Kenneth Rodney Miller.  Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Nancy Terry, and brother, Thomas Terry (Linda); her children Karen Renfroe, David Miller (Karen), and Kristen McBride (Ryan); her five grandchildren Shane Tettemer, Sara Renfroe, Carly Miller, Madison Renfroe, and Liam McBride; numerous extended family, loved ones and friends.

A graduate of Ringtown High School (1958), Muhlenberg College (1962 – Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education), Lutheran Theological Seminary (1988 – Masters of Arts in Religion), Ruth started her career as an elementary school teacher in Pottsville.  After staying at home to raise her three children, she returned to employment at St. James Lutheran Church in Coopersburg as the Director of Christian Education & Youth Ministry.  Ruth had a strong devotion to her church community, participating in many synod-wide events.  Her devout faith and passion for the English language led her to serve as Writer/Editor for youth ministry materials for the Division for Parish Services with the Lutheran Church in America in Philadelphia.  From there, she continued her service as Associate in Ministry/Deacon for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod, retiring in 1998.

Ruth, formerly of Coopersburg, was an avid reader, talented piano player, and singer, and enjoyed counted cross stitch.  She also enjoyed traveling the world, rating the British Isles as one of her favorite locations due to her Welsh heritage.  Ruth stressed the importance of family and always made them her number one priority.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at St James Lutheran Church, 333 East Oxford Street, in Coopersburg.  Calling hours start at 12:00pm with the funeral service starting at 1:00pm.  Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. of Allentown is handling the arrangements.
