Stephen D. Long March 26, 1946 - September 5, 2024
Stephen D. Long, 78, formerly of Emmaus, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024, in the Health Center at LutherCrest, So Whitehall Twp. He was the husband of Louise V. (DalMaso) Long. They celebrated their 49 th wedding anniversary in May 2024. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late John A. and Virginia M. (Bhaer) Long. Stephen was a graduate of Dieruff H.S., where he was a member of the swim team. He also participated on the swim team at the University of South Carolina, where he graduated with a B.S. in Business in 1968. Stephen hororably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, Stephen was the owner of PC Products in Allentown for 45 years. He was a longtime member of the Allentown YMCA and was a past president of the Allentown “Y” Divers. He was certified in 1973 as a Scuba Instructor with P.A.D.I. (Professional Assoc. of Diving Instructors). Stephen was a PIAA Swim Official for 40 years and was a Master Swimmer for 50 years. He was a former board member of the Hivel & Dahl Historical Society and was on the Board of Shelter House Society in Emmaus. Mr. Long was an active member of Emmaus Moravian Church, where he had been a Sacristan for 15 years, and was on the Board of Elders and the Stewardship Committee.
Survivors: Wife, Louise; Son: Scott C. Long and companion Gail Hoadley of Alburtis; Daughter: Cynthia M. Roberts and her husband James of Zionsville; Granddaughter: Madelyn M. Roberts; Grandson: Patrick J. Roberts; Brother: Roger Long and his wife Linda of Macungie; Nephew: Andrew Long. Stephen was predeceased by his nephew Eric Long.
Services: There will be a visitation on Wednesday from 6 – 8 pm at Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 274 N. Krocks Rd., Allentown 18106. There will also be a visitation on Thursday from 9:30 – 10:30 am at Emmaus Moravian Church, 146 Main St., Emmaus 18049, with the funeral service to follow.
