Thomas D. Check June 2, 1935 - July 13, 2018

Thomas D. Check, 83, of Allentown passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Linda M. (Brown) Check. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary last Wednesday. Tom was born in Wilkes-Barre a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Yencha) Check. He received his bachelor’s degree from Kutztown University and his master’s degree from Lehigh University. Tom was a school teacher and administrator for the Allentown School District for over 38 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena, Allentown for over 50 years. Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus #528, Past President of the West End Kiwanis Club, Allentown, Civil War Round Table of the Lehigh Valley, Mazkenosha Rod and Gun Club, the Mercantile Club, Emmaus, North End Slovak Citizens Club, Wilkes-Barre. He was a PIAA Football Official, served on the Board of Directors of the YMCA, Allentown, played for the Patriots Old Timers Red Softball Team, and was a Tour Director for Curriculum Travel of America.
Survivors: Wife; daughters, Lynn Ann Sosnowski and her husband Edward of North Olmsted, OH and Diana L. Haldeman of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren, Joseph Linsenmann and his wife Caitlin, Jon Linsenmann and his wife Emily, Kara Haldeman, Monica Sosnowski. He was predeceased by his five brothers and six sisters.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Thursday in the Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena 1825 W. Turner St. Allentown. Call 6:30 – 8:30 P.M. Wednesday and 9:15 – 9:45 A.M. Thursday in the Stephens funeral Home, Inc. 274 North Krocks Road, Allentown. Interment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, Allentown. www.stephensfuneral.com.
