Wayne W. Shollenberger May 15, 1932 - February 4, 2021

Wayne W. Shollenberger, 88, of Bethlehem, passed to eternal life peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving wife and family, Thursday, February 4, 2021.  He was the beloved husband of Jane A. (Spengler) Shollenberger. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in September 2020. Born in Allentown, he was the eldest child of the late Norman T. and Elsie B. (Hilbert) Shollenberger. Wayne was a graduate of Allentown H.S., class of 1950. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Wayne started an automotive repair business partnership in 1958 with David Gehman, Dave & Wayne Auto Center in Bethlehem. Upon Dave’s retirement, Wayne became the sole owner, working full-time until age 86. The business is now owned by his son Bill. Wayne was a member of Light of Christ Lutheran Church (formerly Messiah Lutheran Church) in Bethlehem. He was a member of the Lehigh Valley Old Time Athletes & Friends, as well as a member of Northwest Bethlehem Lion’s Club where he was a past president. Wayne was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 283 F. & A.M., Lehigh Consistory and Shriners. He was a former board member of the Northampton County Blind Association.

Wayne was dedicated to his family and loved spending time with them at his beloved cabin in Pecks Pond. Favorite activities were hunting, fishing, hiking, boating, snowmobiling and spending time by the fire. He taught all of us to love and respect nature, to be giving, kind and patient.  His love and devotion to his family were beyond measure; and for him his family will be eternally grateful.

He will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his wife, Jane; son, William W. “Bill” Shollenberger (Beth) of Bethlehem Twp.; daughters: Lynn J. Terry (Jonathan) and Lauren O’Keefe Burian (Timothy), all of Hanover Township; grandchildren: Daniel J. Terry (Megan), Kristen L. Fricke (Bryce), Wayne C. Shollenberger (Katherine), Kyle W. Shollenberger, Tyler M. O’Keefe, Kurtis R. Shollenberger (Lauren) , Rachel L. Rumble (Timothy), Andrew T. O’Keefe (Caity); step-grandchildren: Kyle M. Burian (Martha), Angela C. Burian (Kyle), Cara M. Burian; great-grandchildren: Sophie, William; step-great-grandchildren: Natalie, Molly, Hannah, Michael; sister: Carol Michael of Maryland. Wayne is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Jack Shollenberger and a sister Diana Collins.
