Wilbur H. Yeager, Jr. January 10, 1929 - March 17, 2023

Wilbur Yeager, Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2023, at age 94. He was born Jan. 10, 1929, in Allentown, a son of the late Wilbur and Verna (Urffer) Yeager. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Elsie (Yost) Yeager, Jan. 6, 2020. Wilbur served his country honorably in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a ranch hand in Wyoming for a few years in the 50’s. In the 1960’s, he started his taxidermist business, ending in 2020. Additionally, for 15 years, he worked for the City of Allentown as a foreman in Parks & Recreation, retiring in 1984. Wilbur’s lifelong passion was hunting. Beginning at age 12 and continuing until 90 years of age, he was extremely successful as both an upland and big game hunter in the US and Canada. This led him to be one of the finest taxidermists in the Lehigh Valley. He also enjoyed teaching taxidermy into his early 90’s. Wilbur was also an accomplished photographer and artist, primarily focusing on wildlife and wildlands. He had art students as well, teaching them up until his death. Wilbur is survived by brother, Robert and wife, Nobuko, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Tilghman, and sisters, Jean Parks, Gloria Nagle and Lois Ewing. Services: 11:30 AM Thursday at STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 274 N. Krocks Rd. Call 10 AM until service time. Interment will be in Arlington Memorial Park, Whitehall. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, to LV Hospice.
