William R. Kuhns May 3, 1938 - March 11, 2023

William R. Kuhns, 84, of Wyomissing, formerly of Allentown, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Reading Hospital. Born in Allentown, in 1938, he was the son of the late Eugene and Anna (Geary) Kuhns. He was the husband of Kathleen (Zimmerman) Kuhns, with whom he shared over 50 years together.

Bill Kuhns attended William Allen High School before being nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he obtained a bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineering. He received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from California State University at Long Beach, and a master’s degree in Education from Lehigh University.

Bill Kuhns began his career at the USAF Space and Missile Division in Los Angeles. He also worked for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon, Washington, DC; Fort Meade, Maryland; and the USAF DISCUS satellite program at General Electric, King of Prussia. He retired from the US Air Force Reserves 913th Tactical Airlift Group at Willow Grove Air Reserve Facility with the rank of colonel.

He was a member of St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church in Allentown and the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Shillington.

Bill Kuhns is survived by his wife Kathleen; his daughter Elizabeth Douglas, wife of Raymond Douglas, and granddaughter Aoife Douglas, of Hamilton, NY; and nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 20th, 2023 at Stephens Funeral Home, 274 N. Krocks Rd. Allentown, PA 18106, at 10:00 AM. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00-10:00 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
